Module 1 Training

Module 1 (M1) focuses on controlled off-road motorcycle maneuvers. It assesses your ability to handle a motorcycle in a variety of scenarios that simulate real-world riding conditions in a safe, controlled environment. ​

Key Features

  • Duration: Typically 2-3 hours of practice per session, but it may vary by training provider.

  • Environment: Conducted on a purpose-built off-road area.

  • Maneuvers Covered:

    • Slow riding (e.g., figure of eight, U-turns)

    • Controlled stop

    • Emergency stop

    • Hazard avoidance (swerve test)

    • Pushing the motorcycle

  • Goals: Build confidence in motorcycle control, prepare for the Module 1 test.

Lessons are 3.5 hours long and priced at £195.

Test Format

  • Administered by the DVSA.

  • Must achieve a pass in this module before proceeding to Module 2.

Tips

  • Practice throttle control, balance, and braking techniques.

  • Ensure you’re familiar with your motorcycle’s handling.

Module 2 Training

Module 2 (M2) is an on-road riding assessment. It tests your ability to apply what you’ve learned in Module 1 while navigating real traffic scenarios.

  • Duration: Around 3-4 hours of training, tailored to your skill level and familiarity with road riding.

  • Environment: Public roads and highways under the supervision of an instructor.

  • Skills Assessed:

  • Safe riding practices

  • Traffic laws compliance

  • Hazard awareness and response

  • Road positioning and overtaking

  • Use of mirrors, signals, and indicators

  • Goals: Develop road confidence and competency to pass the Module 2 test.

Lessons are 3.5 hours long and priced at £195.

Test Format

  • Conducted on public roads by a DVSA examiner.

  • Includes an eyesight check and "show me, tell me" vehicle safety questions.

Tips

  • Focus on defensive riding techniques and anticipating road conditions.

  • Practice in a variety of weather conditions and times of day, if possible.
